Another Electronic Transition?
I'm finding more and more people are fans of the Kindle. When it first came out I was completely against it. I didn't want one because I really like the feeling of reading a book and turning the pages. Now my mind is slowing changing and I think I might need to ask for one for my birthday. I've been traveling a lot more and everywhere I look there is a Kindle. I love to read and this would be perfect to take on all my trips. Maybe it's time I make yet another electronic transition. What do you think?

Hmm. I'm really torn when it comes to the Kindle. I like that it promotes a more earth-friendly way of reading, but I don't like that it could put an end to my beloved libraries and bookstores! Maybe someday these places could specialize in lending out and selling kindle "stuff" instead. I just don't know...

No backclight, meaning you cannot read in the pm, neeed an additional light source. I also do not like dimmed background. Book pages are high contrast and all eReaders out there are dim.I am eagerly awaiting iPad. Now I just read from my iPhone even though the screen is really small.
Christina, we are neigbours!:)We are trying to have our next JCA lunch/drinks at Tyson's sometimes this month, want to come?
I got my husband a kindle for Christmas and he loves it. I am thinking in asking for one for my birthday...
Hello - been a lurker for awhile and love your blog. My 2 cents... I am an avid reader and like you said no, no, no to the Kindle. Well I'm now a yes, yes, yes gal. My husband bought it for me for Christmas with a very cool leather cover that makes it feel like a book. I love it. I had the same issues as you that it won't feel like a book, etc. It does but better because it's so thin I throw it in my purse and go. It's soooo easy to use and you can have a book in seconds. As far as light though, there is no backlight but my sisterinlaw gave me a brookstone clip on light and that's what I use at night. Sorry to be so long winded :)

I'm thinking it would definitely come in handy for our family vacation this year. I always lug tons of books and with luggage fees, I'm not checking my bags!
