Closing out May's OOTD

Closing out May with some of the latest OOTD.  Favorite outfit would have to be the Lilly Pulitzer short's and top...you will see it a lot this summer!  My favorite pieces would be the J.Crew New Balance shorts and Target tee (worn twice).  And my favorite jewelry is a tie between the Stella & Dot necklace (don't forget Stella & Dot dollars) and Nordstrom Half Yearly sale purchase BP necklace (which I'm giving away on Christina's Favorite Things Facebook page).

Earning Money While You Online Shop...No Seriously!

I feel like Ebates is one of the best kept secrets out there.  A lot of people don't know about it but it's a SUPER easy way to make money when you online shop.  Because I'm a working mom of two, 98% of my shopping is done online.  And its SO easy!!!  All you have to do is go to Ebates, log in, search for the store you plan on shopping at, click the link and voila you are taken there and all you have to do is shop! Each store has a corresponding percentage of cash back. And the money just adds up. Every quarter Ebates will send you a check and all you have to do is cash it...or have it direct deposited in your PayPal account.  My payouts have ranged from $20 - $200...just depends on what I needed that quarter.  Christmas time I always end up with a higher cash back because I'm doing more shopping.  It's seriously so easy...and my friends that I've turned on to this won't do anything else.  Most of the stores I shop at are on here except for Nordstrom.  It was a sad day when they stopped doing it but I'm hoping they will come back.  If you haven't already signed up, I definitely recommend that you do. You get $5 just for signing up! Click here to start getting free money!  .

Anthropologie Dress Room Reviews

Sunday I went to Anthropologie really just to browse and ended up walking out with two new dresses...got suckered in to a 20% off entire purchase coupon.  Here's a look at what I tried on.

Libra Embroidered Tunic Dress - This was a winner.  I'd see a few other bloggers that I follow post about it and I had to try it on.  It's so flattering.  I love the bell sleeves.  It's the perfect spring, summer and even fall dress.  Can't wait to wear it.  You might be seeing it again very soon as an OOTD!

Henley Tank - I liked this tank a lot...but not enough to pay $38.  The fit is flattering and the fabric very soft.  I'm going to keep an eye on it in case it goes on sale.

Crochet Trim Dress - Another winner!!  Love the pops of color on this dress and the back crochet detail is perfect.  I think I'm going to wear this for big mini's preschool graduation.

Christel Ruffled Sleeve Top - Again, I love the ruffle sleeve and this is a great light blue color and fit was fantastic but I don't really need it.  Top comes in yellow as well.  I'm definitely keeping an eye out for it to go on sale.

Elira Stripe Dress - Love, love this dress!  Comfortable and soft fabric but I couldn't justify the price tag ($158).  I'm definitely going to be stalking this for a sale!

Rockaway Peasant Top - I really wanted to like this top because I loved the colors but it wasn't flattering at all...and then I looked at the price $220...seriously!?!?!

My So Fresh and So Clean Skin Care Routine

The older I get the more concerned I get about my skin and aging and wrinkles.  Oh how I regret my college days visiting the tanning bed.  For years I tried to find a skin care solution that gave me results...until now (and I mean it).  About three years ago my friend introduced me to Rodan and Fields.  I was complaining about not being able to find an eye cream and she mentioned that she was a consultant for Rodan and would be happy to give me a sample of theirs to try.  She wasn't pushy at all just offered me a chance to try something new.  After using the sample I really liked it so I bought some and three years later I'm still using it.  And by using it I mean scrapping the bottom of the jar to get every last bit out.  Every six months or so I've tried a new product and every time I love it.  The best part of Rodan is the 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee.  You can use the product to see how it works with your skin for a full cycle and if you don't like it then you can return it for your money back...even if its empty.

Here's a look at my morning and evening regime.

Morning Routine
  • All starts with the Redefine Regimen which helps minimize the appearance of pores and lines while helping improve firmness.
  • I start by cleansing with Daily Cleansing Mask then make sure I've gotten all the mask off with the Pore Minimizing Toner.
  • Some days I add the Microdermabrasion Paste.  This was the second product I fell in love with after trying some of the samples.  It's a gentle scrub but still refreshes my skin's texture.
  • Then comes the first product that sold me on the line, the Multi-Function Eye Cream.
  • And to finish it up the Triple Defense Treatment cream with has SPF 30 (a must).  This moisturizer is lightweight enough that I don't feel greasy but also gives me the moisture my skin needs.

Evening Routine
I'm not as good about the evening routine as I am with the morning.  Sometimes I'm just too tired.  I definitely can see a difference.  I don't recommend using retinol unless you consult your doctor.  I'm slowly working my way up...I started with 0.25.  Interested in the Rodan and Fields products?  Feel free to reach out to my friend Lauren for more information - laurenbianchi22@gmail.com.

Wardrobe Staples: Summer Sandals

A new feature I'd like to start doing on Christina's Favorite Things is wardrobe staples.  I've been going through the process of decluttering my life (more on that in a later post) and part of that is through my wardrobe and keeping just the staples with a few fun pieces here are there.  If I haven't worn it in a year (unless its a special occasion outfit) then it gets either put up on eBay, sent to ThredUp (more to come on this) or donated.  As part of this process, I am going to share with you my favorite wardrobe staples.  First up is sandals!  There's nothing better than sandal weather.  And over the past few years I've started a nice collection of my favorite sandals both casual and dressy.  Here are some of my favorites that I think you should try out.

Let's start with the flip flop...a must in the summer time.  I am usually between two different types - Old Navy's basic thong flip flop and a good pair of Rainbows (I prefer the thing strap).

Next we'll go a little fancier but still a nice flat sandal.  The beauty of these is they can be dressed up or down.  I've posted about both of these before in my OOTD Facebook posts.  Tory Burch Miller Sandal (I have them in black patent).  While these are a little more pricey than I like to spend on sandals, I've had them for four or five years and they really hold up and can be paired with any outfit.

Another pair I've posted about before are the Sam Edelman Gigi sandals.  I have them in nude patent and no joke you really could wear them with anything and the price is affordable too.  These are another pair I've had for a few years and they are still in good shape.  These come in all sorts of colors too.

Moving to something with a bit more of a heel, I got a pair of J.Crew sandals a few years ago with just a small wedge.  It's just enough of a heel to dress it up a bit but not too overwhelming.  I had them on here when I was trying on some new purchases.  I can't find these anymore but here's a similar pair by Cole Haan.

I LOVE a good wedge in the summer time...and they really stand the test of time.  You will be seeing my wedge collection (really only a couple pairs) over the course of my OOTD this summer.  Unfortunately, none of them are available for purchase but I've shared some similar styles I love herehereherehereherehere and here.  There are so many I love. I could go on and on.

So far this season, I up these Steve Madden ones (on sale!) and so far so good.  They are pretty comfortable given the heel.

And of course you have seen my most recent Nordstrom Rack find Tory Burch wedges which I'm obsessed with now.  Here's a nice alternative.

You are probably sick of seeing my feet by now. :)  I've shared some of these styles and other favorites below.  I want to hear from you.  What are some of your favorite sandals??

Make sure you check out the Christina's Favorite Things Facebook page so you can see how I'm pairing all these shoes with various outfits.

Recap of this Week's OOTD

My favorite look this week is the white blazer and pink top.  I love this color combination...I'm on the hunt for a turquoise necklace to make it pop even more next time I wear it.  My favorite pieces are again my Kut from the Kloth jeans (have I mentioned I LOVE them), Lilly Pulitzer top (love a good print) and the Tory Burch wedges (so happy with the Nordstrom Rack find).  Make sure to follow my blog on Facebook to get your daily OOTD posts and other great fashion finds.

The hunt is over...

So I thought I'd make the first official blog post finish where I left off a few years ago...the hunt for the perfect mascara.  The hunt is officially over...I've found two that I absolutely love.  I don't want to spend a ton of money on expensive mascara because I'm kind of OCD about changing it out to prevent any eye issues.

First up is L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara.  I use this every day for work.  It can get a bit messy putting it on so I've got to touch it up with a Q-Tip but I love the brush and application.  I love how long it makes my lashes while still giving it volume.  The only issue is it can smudge easily so I just have to be careful.  And I love the $7.99 price tag!

Next is the last mascara I reviewed on the blog - Cover Girl Crush Clumper Mascara.  Everything I wrote in the first post stays true.  I like this one for the weekends when I'm not going for such a dramatic look.  It's great for any occasion but I like the L'Oreal one for a more intense eye when I'm more dressed up.

Ulta is having buy one get one 50% off right now so check out both using the links in the blog for the deal.  What's your favorite drugstore mascara?
