Five Friday Favorites - Fall Transition Pieces

It has been a really long time since I've done a Five Friday Favorites but an idea sparked yesterday that I thought would be a fun post - Five Fall Transition Favorites.

#1 - Fall (but could still work for warm weather) Dresses 

Love all of these dresses because you can wear them now with sandals or flats and then once the weather gets warm you can transition to booties or boots. And did I mention all of these dresses are super affordable!

#2 - Casual Sneaker 

I have always wanted a pair of Golden Goose sneakers but couldn't justify the big price tag since I wouldn't wear them all the time. I found these Sam Edelman ones and they are the perfect dupes and they recently went on sale. Super cute and comfortable. Another great casual sneaker that I have and love is Rothy's slip ons. #3 - Jean Jacket 

A jean jacket is a MUST HAVE in your closet. I use mine year round and I love it. Goes with SO any things and its so perfect for layering. I've had this Kut from the Kloth one for years now and it never goes out of style. Highly recommend.

#4 - Layering Cardigan 

As we transition to fall clothes, you definitely need a layering cardigan in your closet to pull for those cool mornings and nights. This one from Target is perfect and very affordable. Goes with so many looks. I'm also a big fan of Barefoot Dreams ones...they are pricier but SO soft!!

#5 - Wrap

When I was working in an office every day, I would always have a wrap on hand because it could get really chilly. The same applies at home because some mornings it is so chilly. I LOVE this camo one from Amazon - so comfortable and chic. Comes in other prints as well. I also love a good plaid, like this one.

Since I'm working from home a lot more, I wanted a few pieces that are comfortable but can pass as workwear on camera. This Zella tee is perfect. You can wear it on its own or layer it. I love it so much that I ordered it in black too. 

cardigan / top / leggings (similar)

I love a cozy sweatshirt in the fall and winter and this wrap one from Zella is so perfect. I love the exaggerated collar and the fact that you can close it up or wear it open. It runs big so consider sizing down. On the left, I'm wearing a small and on the right I'm wearing an XXS - the XXS fits SO much better! 

tank / leggings

The last of my Nordstrom Anniversary items finally arrived. I wanted a simple white tank that would work with leggings or shorts and this one is PERFECT. Fit is true to size. There are other colors available and it's IN STOCK right now (well at least as of me posting it).

I wasn't sure about these asymmetrical sweaters from All Saints but I wanted to try it because I thought it would be perfect for work (with black pants), a casual night (with jeans) or a night out (with Spanx). And it really is. The sweater is SO soft and the asymmetrical design is subtle but makes a big impact. I had a hard time deciding between black and white but I stuck with my go-to black.

Another fabulous sweater that I kept. This one is from Madewell. I love the texture of it. I have a feeling I'm going to be living in this one this winter for my video calls. I'm wearing a small and it fits perfectly.

This is another fabulous sweater from All Saints. It's super cute and chic. I love the gathered sleeves and dolman style. If I didn't already have a sweater like this in my closet I would have kept it for sure. I'm in an XS and it fits perfectly. 

pom pom cardigan / tee / jeans

Another Madewell sweater for the win! I love the cardigan style with the pom pom detail. Super cute and comfortable. Will be great for my work video calls or just hanging out on the weekend. Definitely a keeper!

I threw this top in just for fun not thinking I'd end up keeping it. I love the floral detail and the sheerness across the top. Will be perfect for work or a night out. Fit is true to size.

This sweater was another keeper. Love the 3/4 sleeves and waffle stitch detail. I think this is going to be the perfect transition sweater to fall and again in the spring. Love! If white isn't your thing, they have other colors available. Fit is true to size. I'm in an XS. 

waffle tee (size down) / jeans (size down)

I really love this look and I wanted it to work for me but everything was too big. The top was swimming on me...way too big (I'm in an XS). It's super cute and I definitely recommend it but you NEED to size down. The jeans are FABULOUS but they are a bit big so I'm returning and hoping that the next size down eventually becomes available. Highly recommend snagging them but remember to size down. 

dress

This was the only dress I picked up to try this year and I absolutely love it. I'm tempted to also get it in black if it comes back in stock in my size. Super cute and comfortable. Will be great for the fall transition weather. It can be perfect for work or a night out. Fit is true to size but it is on the shorter side (I'm 5'1") so keep that in mind.

I've mentioned this before but the Nordstrom sale is a great opportunity to get staples for your closet. I am in need of a new black winter coat. I threw this in my cart to try. Basically it's a new version of coat I currently have. Fit is great and it will definitely keep me warm. All that being said, I think I'm going to return it because I don't think I want the same style...I want to try something new.

I updated my charcuterie boards with these wood/marble ones. I really wanted them to serve two purposes - decorative and functional - but I don't think they work by the stove so I'll move them but they will look fabulous at my next gathering. 

Dressing Room Diary - Gibson Safari Collection

Another fun collection from Gibson...this time it's all about the wild and their take on fabulous fall animal prints, with a twist.  Lots of really cute items, especially work and day to night pieces.

I absolutely LOVE this dress.  It's the perfect fall maxi.  Love the twist on the animal print with the warm fall red colors.  Comes in petite but I still needed heels for the length.  Fit is true to size.  Other print and solid black are also available.

Perfect tank to transition from summer to fall.  Love the scalloped detail on the neckline.  Wear it alone or pair it with a blazer or faux leather jacket.  You can wear this for work or play.  Fit is true to size.  Other colors available.

This is a super cute top that could be dressed up for work or dressed down with jeans for the weekend.  Sleeves are adjustable if you want to take it to three-quarter length.  Buttons all down the front.  Fit is true to size.  More traditional animal prints also available.

I'm obsessed with the lace detail on this top.  It's the PERFECT fall color.  And it will look great layered just like the one above.  Doesn't come in petites but that's fine the regular size fits true.  Also comes in peach and black.

Take a walk on the wild side with this super cute animal print skirt.  I love the a-line style.  If animal print isn't your thing there are two solid color options.  Comes in petite options too!  Fit is true to size.

Target Tuesday - More Dress Reviews!

I went out of my comfort zone with this dress.  I normally don't pick mustard yellow but I loved all the details of this dress so I had to try it.  I LOVE it!  The color works since I have a nice tan.  The fit is perfect.  Great for date night or work or an event.  True to size.

After seeing so many of my blogger friends in this dress I had to try it to see what the hype was all about. And it's FABULOUS.  Super comfortable cotton but can definitely be dressed up to wear to work.  Fit is true to size.  Animal print is very much on trend right and this is the perfect piece to add without breaking the back.

This is the perfect summer dress.  Great for a wedding or other event.  Love the green/white print combo.  Super cute ruffle detail with tie waist.  Fit is true to size.

This is a great transition dress to fall from the Knox Rose line.  Love the slate gray color with the embroidered detail.  It's a little on the shorter side (I'm 5'1") so I don't know that I would wear it to work unless I had flats on.  Fit is true to size.

I LOVE the print on this Who What Wear dress.  It's the perfect fall transition dress.  The details are on point with the ruffles and gathered waist.  Perfect for work or play.  Comes in a few different prints too.  Sizing is pretty true but it was a little big in the chest so I might have been able to go down a size.

This is a super cute dress.  LOVE the blush color.  Really great for work but you could also get away with it on the weekends.  Perfect fall transition piece...wear now with sandals and transition to closed toe and a jacket.  Fit is true to size.

TARGET TUESDAY - Spring/Summer Dress Try On

This is the PERFECT cotton tank dress and I just love the bright blue color!!  The dress is really soft cotton, flowy and VERY flattering.  You can wear it with so many things...dress it up or down.  This will be a staple this spring/summer for sure.  Lots of colors to pick from.  Fit is true to size.

OBSESSED with this Target find!! Love a good jumpsuit and this one from Xhilaration brand is AMAZING. Love the soft material and stripes are perfection!!! I sized up to a small since this is a juniors brand. Also comes in gray.

LOVE the print on this dress.  Very flattering style with tie waist.  The v-neck isn't too low and the sleeves are thick enough that you can wear a bra making it perfect for work or play.  I felt like it ran a little large so you might want to consider sizing down.

Another really pretty print!  I wasn't sure about the style of this dress at first but it really works.  Love the cinched waist (isn't too tight) and the gathered neck.  Perfect length on my 5'1" frame.  Dress it up or down.  Would work well with a white blazer for a more work appropriate look.  Fit is true to size.

Target's Who What Wear brand always comes up with unique dress styles and this one is no exception.  I didn't think the horizontal stripes would be flattering but they work.  And I LOVE the bell sleeves.  Great for work or play.  Fit is true to size.

Love the spring floral print of this maxi dress.  Very flowy and flattering with two slits in the front that only go up to a little above the knee.  I sized up to a small because it's junior sizing but the bust was a little big.  It's a deeper v-neck so be prepared for cleavage.  Also comes in a black print.

Love the off the shoulder style and peek-a-boo front of this dress.  It's super flowy and very flattering.  Perfect for a garden wedding, baby/bridal shower or just date night.  It's junior sizing so I went up one size to a small.  Other print available.

LOFT has LOTS of new spring arrivals that I had to share with you.  Some fabulous transition pieces as weather starts to warm up.

I love a good jumpsuit. LOFT had a super cute polka dot one that sold out quickly but don’t worry because they have a similar one in a floral print. It is sooo cute!! Also comes in petite but I’m wearing the regular length. Fit is true to size. 

dress (size XS P)

How cute is this dress from LOFT!?!?!  Love the green color and silhouette is so flattering.  Love that it's long sleeves for those cooler spring days.  Perfect dress for Easter because it's never as warm as we would like it to be.  Wear on it's own or pair it with a blazer.  Fit is true to size.

Loving this cute bloom print dress. It's the perfect spring transition piece. The tie detail and flounce skirt are perfection. Fit is true to size.

I LOVE a good t-shirt dress and this one from LOFT is a winner because it has the feel of a t-shirt dress but it's a thicker material and with the puff sleeves you can dress it up or down. Would look great paired with a denim jacket on the cooler days. True to size. Definitely recommend.

I love a mix media top and this one is SUPER cute. Sweatshirt material on top but the fluttery woven hem dresses it up. Pair with jeans or dress pants. Works for LOTS of occasions. Fit is true to size. Definitely recommend.

If you've been following Christina's Favorite Things for a while then you know I love a good black dress and this knit one is AMAZING. The fit and flare look is SO flattering. It's another one that you can dress up with heels and a fun earring or for a more casual look pair it with flats and a denim jacket. Also comes in whisper white. Fit is true to size.

I love a simple lightweight sweater in the spring/fall months as the weather transitions. This one is PERFECT because the fit is flattering and the material isn't too heavy or light. You can dress it up for work or date night or go more casual when running around town. True to size.

I got this dolman sleeve sweater last fall to transition to the cooler temps. It's back in three new colors, perfect for spring. Great lightweight material and you can dress it up or down. Fit is true to size...supposed to be a bit oversized.

I'm a sucker for a peplum top and this one is so cute. I love the print (same as the dress above). Perfect on its own or paired with a jacket on cooler days. And the pattern is one that could be worn all year round. True to size.
