NEW FEATURE: Organization Monday
I decided to add a new feature to the blog...Organization Monday. I'm always trying to find new and innovative ways to stay organized especially now with a little one on the way. Each week I'm going to showcase ways I'm staying organized or ideas of things I want to do to say organized. First up is how to organize the mail clutter. I came across this amazing mail organizer chalkboard on Etsy that would be PERFECT. It's a great wait to organize the mail I still need to go through, mail that needs action and a place to store the magazines and catalogs I want to read. It would fit perfectly in our kitchen. The only thing not perfect about it is the price - $200!!!! Anyone seen a similar version to this at a better price or ideas on how to DIY?

Love this idea!!! You're totally nesting, btw... haha :)
First I want to say I love your blog!!! I just wish I had more time to read it on a regular basis :)
As for how to DIY this awesome mail organizer. How crafty is hubby??? You may even be able to pull it off but seeing your belly (congrats by the way!!!) I would suggest leaving it to him.
1 - For the back piece, paint a piece of plywood from Home Depot with chalkboard paint - use at least two coats, maybe even three.
2 - For the magazine holder buy a magazine file from any office supply store (or Ikea), cut it in half, glue gun and use small "L" brackets along the bottom to support the weight of a magazine. You can screw them right into the plywood backing.
3 - for the incoming and outgoing mail boxes I would suggest using the bottom of a cereal box (cut the box about across the bottom leaving about 4 inches of height), pain with chalkboard paint, use tiny screws to secure to the plywood backing
4 - you can purchase the key hooks at Home Depot as well, drill holes and insert...for a more polished method pick up a key board from Bed Bath and Beyond (with a 20% off coupon of course!!) and adhere to the plywood.
This is a great idea, if I had the space I would definitely be building one for myself. Good luck!!
