Vacation is Finally Here!!!

Hubby and I are headed to Curacao bright and early tomorrow morning. We will be spending the next six glorious days here. I can't wait.

Favorite Thing #188 - Georgetown Cupcake

Georgetown Cupcake has the best cupcakes ever!!!! They are made locally in DC by two sisters who changed careers...drastically. We got these in my office the one day and I was hooked after the first bite. They are sooooooo yummy!!!!! They have all kinds of great flavors but I prefer the classic vanilla 2 - a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. If you live locally in DC they have two locations - Georgetown (which always has a LONG line) and Bethesda Row. If you don't live around here, you can have them shipped.

Spring!

One of my favorite things about spring are the cherry blossoms in DC. Here's a shot of Hubby and I a few weeks ago. We spent the day walking around the monuments and Georgetown. Amazing weather and great scenery.

In the craziness of my work travels I completely forgot to introduce you all to my beautiful niece Evie. She was born on April 9. Here she is with her big sister, Fiona. I have the two cutest nieces in the world!!!!

Happy Belated Anniversary

Hubby and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary last week. He was out of town so we didn't celebrate till Saturday night. We did our annual tradition and headed to Baltimore for some shopping and dinner at Roys. For those of you new to the blog, Hubby and I always go to Roys for dinner because that was our favorite place we ate at in Hawaii. We always have an amazing meal and excellent service. I'm wearing two new purchases from Ann Taylor LOFT. I took advantage of the friends and family last week (more stuff to come). Here's a link to the tank and cardigan.

Gift Idea Friday - Wedding Season!

It's been a LONG time since I've done gift idea Friday. With wedding season around the corner, I had to share this great find. I saw this beautiful pewter wall hanging from Lisa Leonard Designs and I thought it's the perfect bridal shower/wedding gift! It's a 3" solid pewter heart that is hand-cast and hand-stamped with three lines of custom text and tied with thick velvet cream ribbon. I love how it's show here with a frame.


And it doesn't just have to be limited as a wedding gift. Perfect baby gift too.

New Years Resolution Month Three Update

1.Be Healthier - Definitely eating healthier and just living healthier lives. Hubby and I have been really good about watching what we eat and filling our diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. This is probably the best I have felt in a long time. I'm really toning up and a lot of it is because of my personal trainer. I still continue to see if twice a week and definitely have seen results. My clothes fit better, I'm stronger and all around I feel good.

2.Be consistent with running - I've been running a little more outside now that the weather is warm. I also changed my mile time from 8:30 to under 6:30. I never thought in a million years I would be able to run that fast.

3.Focus on my blog - I'm back to blogging after a brief hiatus because work was crazy. I'm added 9 more followers from last month. Getting closer to 200!

4.Cook at home more - Cooking at home this past month was a little difficult because Hubby's and my travel schedules were off so we weren't home much. My favorite recipe is the Rosemary White Bean Soup!

Loving Old Navy!

I took advantage of a coupon and did a little online Old Navy shopping and love every single thing I got! After posting these pics I realized that there aren't any fun spring colors...oops.

Here's a few highlights.

So excited to wear the ruffled tube dress. It fits perfectly and is sooo comfy! I went with the chocolate brown and it's going to look great with a tan.


I got this slub-knit cardigan in two colors - marshmallow white and cocoa powder. Again fits great, comfortable and will be very versatile. I'm actually wearing it with my new J.Crew pants.

And finally this super cute ruffle open cardigan. It got it in black because I think I will get the most use out of that color. It's three quarter length sleeve and definitely can been worn year round.

I think I want to take this to my tailor and have her sew a hook and eye so I can close it. I could probably belt this look but I just don't think that look works on me. What do you think?

Great New Recipe - Rosemary White Bean Soup

I absolutely looooove this soup. This recipe is sooo easy and sooo flavorful!!! It's another fabulous recipe from Barefoot Contessa. When I made it over the weekend I tweeked it a little bit. The grocery store was out of dry white cannellini beans so I used canned ones and it tasted just fine. I like this soup to be much thicker so I used 4 cans beans instead of 2. Other than those changes, I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out sooo good. What's great about this soup is you can add whatever seasonings you want and even through some Parmesan cheese and/or balsamic vinegar for different flavor.

Where have I been update

Sooooo sooooo sorry for my lack of posts the last few weeks. Things have been soo busy at work and I haven't had to even think about my blog. :( I should have a few posts this week and then work is crazy busy again. I promise by mid-May I will be back to posting regularly. Here's a little update on what's been going on...

Works been crazy so I've had minimal time to shop, cook, do anything fun. I have managed to order some new spring wardrobe items and hope to post reviews this week.

One of my favorite purchases so far is the stretch twill Minnie pant from J.Crew. I bought these to replace a old pair of faded cropped black pants and sooo glad I did. I went with a petite and the length is PERFECT! They fit great and will definitely get lots of wear.

I also picked up a new black suit from Banana Republic petites. I took advantage of the 30% off two weeks ago and with the discount essentially got the pants for free. I went with a petite size again and the pants and jacket fit like a glove, no altering needed!

And lastly on the shopping front, I've got the best Hubby in the world!!! He surprised me a few weeks ago with a new purse. He said it was for busting my butt at work. It's a gorgeous new Coach bag. It's the perfect size with compartments for all my gadgets, make up, etc. Thanks again Hubby!!!
On a home front, we've updated our deck with a lounge area. Pictures and details to come. Hubby is getting the garden ready. We've got about 6 pots started with tomato seeds and they've already started sprouting!
And we updated our point and shoot camera. I went with another Canon Power Shot. I love the red color. And love that it's megapixels are double what our old camera had. Can't wait to see how clear the pictures look.

Best news of all...only 31 days till vacation! Can't wait to be relaxing in Curacao!!!!
