Kindle?!?!

My birthday is coming up and Hubby asked me what I wanted. I've been thinking about getting the Kindle but I don't know if I want to make the switch. I really like the touch and feel of books, reading them by the pool or at the beach. Need your advice as to whether or not I should switch. Do you use a Kindle and love it?

I felt exactly as you did! I received mine for Mother's Day, and I love it. It is so lightweight and easy to throw in your bag and have multiple books at hand. The battery life is amazing so you don't have to constantly plug it in to keep it charged.

Christina, you will enjoy it if all you need is for it to provide books for you. It is very lightweight, small in size, very easy to read even by the pool outside and the battery life is great!

Plus, you will be going GREEN!

I was the same way and then got an iPad for Christmas. I definitely read more than I did before and traveling with multiple books is amazing. I definitely recommend it!

I have a Nook. I think that an e-reader, any e-reader, is really good for those of us who like to read and dump. If you're into say, trashy romance novels ;), or any books that you read then never read again it's really great. If you're more of a book owner than it might not be so good. I happen to burn through books so my Nook is amazing for me. My brother-in-law is a 'keeper' and used his nook for about 3.5 seconds.

I LOVE my Kindle, it was definitely a great investment. I know there is a new nook coming out that might be worth a look but I love the kindle and it is super light and i read it all the time. Also, the "classic" books, Jane Austen, Hemingway etc. are free!

I LOVE my iPad! I have read many books on my pad but I still read paper books. Sometimes the ebooks are easier to pack and easy to read at night in bed, built in reader light :).
So I say go for it, one does not eliminate the use of the other type book.

Happy b-day

I personally like the Nook much better. I have a Nookcolor and I looooooove it!!! I am a huge reader (1-2 books per week) and thought I could never let go of my precious paper books but I love the convenience of the Nook. Plus the Nook has internet and all kinds of apps you can purchase. It's like a mini iPad. Go for it!!

I just got the kindle 3g for my birthday a couple weeks ago and love it! Very lightweight, easy to read, you can lend books from other kindle owners and in the fall libraries will be set up so that you can borrow books from a library!

Love the Kindle. Just got it. It's so slim & compact. Much easier than a book in that regard and no worries about mussing it up. It won't completely replace books for me, but ones that I probably wouldn't read twice (pop fiction) are definitely going on it.

I have the iPad, and I love it as a book reader. You can click on a word and it will give you a definition. And you can use it for everythig else, like write comments on blogs! LOL!

I, like you, love books. Flipping through the pages, being able to fold the corners, having a collection to flip through whenever, but I had considered getting one of these e-readers because I don't have a lot of room to accumulate a ton of books.

I see tons of people on the metro with Kindles, but I ended up getting a NOOK color and love it because I can read books and magazines, get on the internet and play Angry Birds. :)
I definitely recommend an e-reader. It will just make your book reader easier and portable.
