Yummy Sweet Green!

I'm so excited that sweetgreen has opened up a location right across the street from my office.  For those of you not familiar with this amazing place it is the place for a fresh salad or refreshing frozen yogurt.  According to their website, it is a "destination for delicious food that’s both healthy for you and aligned with your values."  They source local and organic ingredients from farmers they know and partners we trust, supporting communities those around them.  They started in the DC area and are growing.  Right now they have locations in DC, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.  If there is a location near you, download the app here and receive a credit towards your purchase.  The app features their rewards program and works very similar to Starbucks' app.  Check it out.

Favorite Thing #129 - Wine Bottle Stopper

This is probably one of the cheapest favorite things that I've posted about - Wine Bottle Stopper from Crate and Barrel. This little gadget is only $1.95 but it is so amazing. The way it work is you put the stopper in the bottle of wine and then you bend the top down and a strong suction is created which helps the wine last a lot longer. Unfortunately its for practical reasons and not for looks. There are so many cute wine bottle stoppers out there I just wish they worked like this one does. Sorry the picture is so small, I could figure out how to make the picture bigger.


I am still loving and using Favorite Thing #29 - Beauty Insider card from Sephora. I can't even tell you how many free samples I have gotten from using this card. I don't always like the samples but 9 times out of 10 I do. It's a great way to try new products. I mainly use them for when I travel because they are small sizes which are much easier to pack and then I don't have to buy small sizes. If you haven't signed up you must...it's free so you have no excuses!

Favorite Thing #108 - The Look 4 Less Blog

This blog is my newest obsession - The Look 4 Less. "J" in Iowa makes shopping so much more fun and affordable for her readers. She takes great celebrity and high end fashions and shows you how to get the look for less.

"In this world of celebrity culture, everyone wants the expensive, designer looks that they see on their favorite stars. I decided to start this blog to show people that you don't HAVE to always shell out large amounts of cash to have a similar look!

Her blog is updated all the time with lots of new great styles. Some styles are a little too out there for me like these lace up pumps but most of it are amazing look-a-likes. We have very similar tastes (both love J.Crew) so I have to control my need to buy everything she posts. My most recent purchase thanks to her blog is an Arden B. sweater. It should be arriving this week. I can't wait to wear it!

Really loving Favorite Thing #8 this week - J.Crew rewards. I got my spring $25 reward card in the mail and used it to do some early spring shopping and also take advantage of the 30% sale items. If you are a J.Crew regular shopper than I highly recommend that you get a J.Crew credit card. It's soo worth it.

This was a Christmas gift from my husband and it is such a creative idea. Sephora has come out with a creative way to buy perfume. The have the "scent sampler" which includes ten sample of their top-selling women's fragrances and a gift voucher that can be redeemed at any Sephora store for a full-size bottle of any one of the samples in the sampler. They way it works is

1. Purchase the Fragrance Gift Certificate as a gift or for yourself.
2. Sample the fragrances and choose a favorite.
3. Fill in the enclosed voucher.
4. Bring the voucher in to your local Sephora store and redeem it for the fragrance you've chosen.

Favorite Thing #29 - Sephora Beauty Insider Reward Program

Today's favorite thing is another reward program and this one is at Sephora - the Sephora Beauty Insider. I love this program because it feels like everytime I buy something there I get something free. This was a free program to join so its really worth it even if you only shop there once and a while.

Here are some of the benefits:

• you earn beauty points for every purchase made when you use your insider card (this isn't a credit card - its just like a grocery store card, you can just keep it on your key chain). For every $100 you spend you get a deluxe sample. These are great samples, not just a small foil packet of something but an actual travel size bottle! Since joining the program last year I got three bottles of body wash, face cream, and eye cream. I did some Christmas shopping there so I spent a little more than usual.

• a free gift for your birthday - Vanilla Cupcake Bath and Shower Bubbles

• first dibs on new beauty products before they hit stores

Favorite Thing #8 - J.Crew Rewards

This was not one of my favorite things until recently. I have been a J.Crew credit card holder since college and for the longest time I debated on whether or not I should just close the account because there were no rewards to it. That all changed about a year ago when they changed the way their credit card works and now its definitely worth it. Some of these benefits include:

• $25 reward card for every $500 you spend


• Free alterations on merchandise – and for me that means something because I am super short and rarely does anything fit right


• 10% off your first purchase


• And the best one is every season they send you a $25 gift card with no catch.

For the spring season I got a $50 one…extra bonus!! I don’t know if it was because I had made several bigger purchases recently – Christmas presents, new winter coat. But regardless I was happy with the extra $50 for spring/summer shopping!! Now of course this favorite thing only benefits you if you shop at J.Crew regularly which I do. I love their sale shop.
