Five Friday Favorites - Fall Transition Pieces

It has been a really long time since I've done a Five Friday Favorites but an idea sparked yesterday that I thought would be a fun post - Five Fall Transition Favorites.

#1 - Fall (but could still work for warm weather) Dresses 

Love all of these dresses because you can wear them now with sandals or flats and then once the weather gets warm you can transition to booties or boots. And did I mention all of these dresses are super affordable!

#2 - Casual Sneaker 

I have always wanted a pair of Golden Goose sneakers but couldn't justify the big price tag since I wouldn't wear them all the time. I found these Sam Edelman ones and they are the perfect dupes and they recently went on sale. Super cute and comfortable. Another great casual sneaker that I have and love is Rothy's slip ons. #3 - Jean Jacket 

A jean jacket is a MUST HAVE in your closet. I use mine year round and I love it. Goes with SO any things and its so perfect for layering. I've had this Kut from the Kloth one for years now and it never goes out of style. Highly recommend.

#4 - Layering Cardigan 

As we transition to fall clothes, you definitely need a layering cardigan in your closet to pull for those cool mornings and nights. This one from Target is perfect and very affordable. Goes with so many looks. I'm also a big fan of Barefoot Dreams ones...they are pricier but SO soft!!

#5 - Wrap

When I was working in an office every day, I would always have a wrap on hand because it could get really chilly. The same applies at home because some mornings it is so chilly. I LOVE this camo one from Amazon - so comfortable and chic. Comes in other prints as well. I also love a good plaid, like this one. 

Five Friday Favorites - Latest Sales

So many good sales on some of my favorite summer and fall transition pieces.  Recapping my five favorite here but make sure you check out Nordstrom's latest sale adds, especially all my favorites from the Gibson x HiSugarplum line.

#1 - Jack by BB Dakota top

LOVE this top!  The colors are so perfect for fall or spring. It runs a bit big so I'd recommend sizing up.  I'm in a small.  You definitely need a cami under it...I'm wearing this one in cream.

#2 - Gibson Living in Yellow Shorts

Love these shorts (along with the similar Hi Sugarplum ones).  Super comfortable and are a great fall transition with these still warm temps.  You can dress them up or down.  I usually size up one size for a looser fit.  And the shoes in this look also happen to be on sale!

#3 - Gibson One Shoulder Top

I LOVE this one shoulder top.  I wore it a ton this summer.  Was great on it's own with shorts or pants or you could dress it up with skirt.  Fit is true to size.  Other colors and prints available.  First time this has gone on sale and you should definitely snag it! 

#4 - Vince Camuto Sandals

These are the PERFECT fall transition sandal and they are SO comfortable.  Several colors available.  Fit is true to size.  And a bonus this dress also happens to be on sale too!!

#5 - LOFT Floral Dress

This is a super cute LOFT dress that you can really wear in three seasons - spring, summer and fall.  Great layered or on its own.  Love all the colors in the floral print.  Flattering with a tie waist.  Highly recommend.  And it goes great with the #4 on sale sandals.  :)

Dressing Room Diaries - LOFT Fall Transition Pieces

One of the fashion finds I'm focused on right now are cute looks to transition looks to get me from summer to fall because around here you never know what the weather will be like in September and October...can be really warm or really cold. Here are some perfect pieces from LOFT that fit the bill.

dress / shoes

This is the perfect fall transition dress...it's got all the right colors and great for layering. Cinch waist gives you a flattering shape and it has POCKETS! Fit is true to size. Definitely recommend.

I love a good mule and these are SO cute for fall. Perfect nude/taupe color with super cute bow detail. You can dress them up or down. They run about a half size big so consider sizing up. Also come in black.

Traditionally I haven't been much of a skirt wearer till recently.  This is a really cute (and comfortable) slip on one with an elastic waist.  Perfect now with bare legs and sandals and then pair it with tights and flats/pumps in the winter.  Fit is true to size.

This top is a mix media top or as I like to call it - business in the front and party in the back.  It's a dressy material for the front part and a softer cotton in the back.  Very comfortable for work.  Perfect on its own or with a sweater or blazer.  Fit is true to size.

Love the floral print and the ruffle sleeve detail on this top. This is perfect to wear on it's on or layered with a cardigan or jacket. Works great with jeans or black pants. Highly recommend.

Here's the PERFECT bangle set.  Comes with two "gold" bangles are four colorful resin ones.  The colors are perfect for almost any outfit.  I've gotten SO much use out of them already.  Highly recommend.

Dressing Room Diaries - LOFT March Try On

LOFT has LOTS of new spring arrivals that I had to share with you.  Some fabulous transition pieces as weather starts to warm up. 

jumpsuit (wearing S)

I love a good jumpsuit. LOFT had a super cute polka dot one that sold out quickly but don’t worry because they have a similar one in a floral print. It is sooo cute!! Also comes in petite but I’m wearing the regular length. Fit is true to size. 

dress (size XS P)

How cute is this dress from LOFT!?!?!  Love the green color and silhouette is so flattering.  Love that it's long sleeves for those cooler spring days.  Perfect dress for Easter because it's never as warm as we would like it to be.  Wear on it's own or pair it with a blazer.  Fit is true to size.

Loving this cute bloom print dress. It's the perfect spring transition piece. The tie detail and flounce skirt are perfection. Fit is true to size.

I LOVE a good t-shirt dress and this one from LOFT is a winner because it has the feel of a t-shirt dress but it's a thicker material and with the puff sleeves you can dress it up or down. Would look great paired with a denim jacket on the cooler days. True to size. Definitely recommend.

I love a mix media top and this one is SUPER cute. Sweatshirt material on top but the fluttery woven hem dresses it up. Pair with jeans or dress pants. Works for LOTS of occasions. Fit is true to size. Definitely recommend.

If you've been following Christina's Favorite Things for a while then you know I love a good black dress and this knit one is AMAZING. The fit and flare look is SO flattering. It's another one that you can dress up with heels and a fun earring or for a more casual look pair it with flats and a denim jacket. Also comes in whisper white. Fit is true to size.

I love a simple lightweight sweater in the spring/fall months as the weather transitions. This one is PERFECT because the fit is flattering and the material isn't too heavy or light. You can dress it up for work or date night or go more casual when running around town. True to size.

I got this dolman sleeve sweater last fall to transition to the cooler temps. It's back in three new colors, perfect for spring. Great lightweight material and you can dress it up or down. Fit is true to size...supposed to be a bit oversized.

I'm a sucker for a peplum top and this one is so cute. I love the print (same as the dress above). Perfect on its own or paired with a jacket on cooler days. And the pattern is one that could be worn all year round. True to size.

Dressing Room Diaries - LOFT February

This week's dressing room diaries comes from the local LOFT.  Lots of great spring transition pieces.  I don't know about you but the small taste of warmer weather we got has me READY for spring.

sweater / tank

This sweater is the one item that came home with me (I've been trying to be good about my shopping considering I donated 5+ bags of clothes and have a bunch more to list on ebay).  I love the stripe detail and it's a fabulous transition piece to spring.  Fit is true to size and it's on sale!

This is another great transition sweater.  I LOVE the blush pink color (other colors available). Super soft knit, flattering slit detail.  Great on its own, with a statement necklace or scarf.  Fit is true to size.

top

This cross front lightweight sweater is the perfect transition piece from winter to spring. Super soft knit. Love the color. Fit is true to size.  Wear it now with boots and transition to spring with flats or cute sneaks like white Converse.

cardigan

I almost went home with this one because it's SO soft and cute. You can dress it up or down. Super soft and very comfortable. Other colors available.  True to size.  

dress (now on sale)

Love the vine print on this dress.  Perfect with a pair of booties, flats or wedges.  Would be a fabulous transition piece as we enter warmer weather.  True to size.

LOVE the stitching detail on this sweater. It has a figure flattering shape that you can dress up or down. Comes in a bunch of colors. True to size but if you don't want the form fitting look, size up.

If you have been following Christina's Favorite Things for a while then you know I'm a sucker for a peplum top.  This blouse is soo cute.  Love the tulip print and tie neck.  You can dress it up or down.  True to size. And it's on sale right now.

Loving this boucle tweed dress from Lou and Grey at LOFT. You can dress it up or down. Extremely comfortable. Wear it now with black tights and transition to spring with bare legs and booties or flats.  True to size. Best detail about the dress...POCKETS!

I love dolman sleeve style sweater and this patchwork one is super cute.  Love the different color/fabric patterns that make up this sweater.  Soft and comfortable.  Fit is supposed to be on the looser side but if you want a more form fitting look then size down.

tunic

This was the only BIG FAIL from this dress room diary.  I normally love this tunic style of shirts...especially to transition to spring but this one just didn't work.  Not flattering at all!!!  I'm in my usual XS but even if I went to an XXS I still don't think it would have worked.  First time I've had a BIG no with a Lou and Grey item.  It's a shame to because it looks amazing on the model.
